about

Subtitled the "Geography EP" due to various locations mentioned throughout, this is my second EP. It features songs that were written in the spring and evoke in me all the emotions that go along with the season. In many ways it's a love letter to Boston, where the spring is most beautiful. If I hadn't have lived there for a year, none of these songs would have come to be.

Track Name: Carry Me Home
I left home when I was young and joined a traveling band
We played every dive but didn't make many fans
Every night was a different city, every day was long
Spending hours on the highway trying to write this song

Wherever you lead me, I will go
As long as you promise to carry me home
Take me to the edge of the great unknown
Just promise that you're going to carry me home

I see the world through my window in the back of the van
And though I long for a day off, it's not part of the plan
I ran off to chase the music, now I'm all alone
Hope to make enough money one day to find my way back home

Wherever you lead me, I will go
As long as you promise to carry me home
Take me to the edge of the great unknown
Just promise that you're going to carry me home

I wonder what life would be like, had I stayed
Would I be in a job I hate and regret the choice I made
Instead I don't have much to my name, just my guitar
But I put all my faith in it since it's brought me this far

Wherever you lead me, I will go
As long as you promise to carry me home
Take me to the edge of the great unknown
Just promise that you're going to carry me home

Wherever you lead me, I will go
As long as you promise to carry me home
Take me to the edge of the great unknown
Just promise that you're going to carry me home
Track Name: Massachusetts Morning
The birds are leaving and I should be too
Streaking across the sky headed somewhere new
'Cause it's all that I know, being out on my own
This time last year I was Massachusetts bound
And I don't feel right being rooted to the ground
I think today's the day, I ought to be on my way

Back to the city lying by the sea
With brownstone buildings and cobblestone streets

Waking up to a Massachusetts morning
Ocean mist floating in on the breeze, buds peeking out of the walnut trees
The springtime sun has broken through to thaw this heart of mine
It's morning in Massachusetts, and I'm feeling fine

Strolling through the Garden with the tulips in bloom
The days are growing longer as I write this tune
Birds sing high in the trees, asking winter to leave
The snow's melted and the sidewalks are clear
As I head down Mass. Ave to find a spot on the pier
With the Charles rolling past, I know these days won't last

But I'll hold onto them in my memory
So I can return when I feel the need

Waking up to a Massachusetts morning
Ocean mist floating in on the breeze, buds peeking out of the walnut trees
The springtime sun has broken through to thaw this heart of mine
It's morning in Massachusetts, and I'm feeling fine

Waking up to a Massachusetts morning
Ocean mist floating in on the breeze, buds peeking out of the walnut trees
The springtime sun has broken through to thaw this heart of mine
It's morning in Massachusetts, and I'm feeling fine
Track Name: Long Way From Texas
I boarded the last train to Maine, a dollar in my hand
Headed up north to see my baby, leaving the Rio Grande
Freeport's where he calls home, and where I'll make mine
Engineer won't you pour that coal, he's meeting me there for nine

It's a long way from Texas, for a girl like me
Mom gave up trying to make me stay, she just thinks I'm crazy
She says the winters are long, and that I'll freeze at night
But if he's waiting for me at the station, I'll be alright

I stepped down to the platform, and not much met my eye
Main street was only a couple of buildings, and nothing but the bluest sky
I thought back to my hometown, the family I left behind
But it was love that brought me this far, the truest that I'd ever find

It's a long way from Texas, for a girl like me
Mom gave up trying to make me stay, she just thinks I'm crazy
She says the winters are long, and that I'll freeze at night
But if he's waiting for me at the station, I'll be alright

Now we've got two kids of our own, and one more on the way
It's crazy to think of the life I've lived, since I decided to stay
But mom was right about one thing, it's much warmer back home
But I'm happy where I am, with a family to call my own

It's a long way from Texas, for a girl like me
Mom gave up trying to make me stay, she just thinks I'm crazy
She says the winters are long, and that I'll freeze at night
But if he's waiting for me at the station, I'll be alright
But if he's waiting for me at the station, I'll be alright
Track Name: Take Me Back
These city streets all look the same
Strangers pass me by, nobody knows my name
I wish this winter wind would blow me back home
I don't think I'm cut out for life on my own

Take me back to my home in old Saskatchewan
Standing on a sea of gold under a sky of blue
Take me back to my home in old Saskatchewan
The place where I met you

Everywhere I look there's nothing but concrete
My lonely grows, the more people I meet
Was I just crazy to throw our love away
Or was it the dreams in my head that wouldn't let me stay

Take me back to my home in old Saskatchewan
Standing on a sea of gold under a sky of blue
Take me back to my home in old Saskatchewan
The place where I met you

Now I'm strung out on the road, with no end in sight
Surrounded by people and places to help me through the night
But none could ever love me quite like you
So I'm making my way back home if it's the last thing I do

Take me back to my home in old Saskatchewan
Standing on a sea of gold under a sky of blue
Take me back to my home in old Saskatchewan
The place where I met you

Take me back to my home in old Saskatchewan
Standing on a sea of gold under a sky of blue
Take me back to my home in old Saskatchewan
The place where I met you
The place where I met you
